The Ohio Army National Guard is an organized militia, a military service comprised of more than 11,000 Soldiers who train in more than 50 facilities across the state. Unlike other branches of military service the National Guard is comprised of Citizen-Soldiers, men and women who lead civilian lives until they are called to serve by their nation, state or community. When they are not needed, Citizen-Soldiers live their ordinary lives working or attending college while putting on their uniforms once a month and two weeks a year to train for when they are called to serve.
The Ohio National Guard Scholarship Program (ONGSP) is a state-funded scholarship program for individuals who enlist, extend or reenlist into the Ohio National Guard. This educational program is only offered by the Ohio national Guard. No other branch of service offers this program.
