The Alaska Army National Guard is an essential element of the U.S. military. As direct descendants of the Alaska Territorial Guard (ATG) and the “Eskimo Scouts”, current serving members support the citizens of Alaska during times of domestic emergencies, and stand ready to meet the needs of the United States of America at a moment’s notice. Initial training for the job you chose is conducted outside of the State of Alaska. Once complete, our Guard members return home to be near friends and family, and to live the unique lifestyle that makes Alaska worth defending. Drill is scheduled just one weekend each month, and a two-week Annual Training takes place once a year. We are more than just a job. We are the first line of defense for The Last Frontier.
